Privacy Policy for Trestle, an IELTS and TOEFL preparation app by Qoodly / TOPRAK ÖZKALE.

Who we are

Trestle is operated by Qoodly, with App Store seller TOPRAK ÖZKALE. For privacy questions or requests, contact info@qoodly.com.

Learning data on your device

Trestle saves your study profile, exam goal, daily plan, answers, practice history, progress and preferences locally on your device. You do not need a Trestle account. Trestle does not send your typed answers, recordings or learning notes to any server and does not include an advertising SDK.

Anonymous usage analytics (PostHog)

From version 2.1.3, Trestle can send anonymous usage events to PostHog so we can see which parts of the app help learners and improve it. Events describe actions, not content: for example that an onboarding step was viewed, which exam, reason and section were chosen, that a question of a given type was answered correctly or incorrectly and how long it took, that a lesson or the daily plan was completed, that a paywall was shown or a purchase was started, completed or cancelled, and which settings were changed. Each event carries a random identifier created by the app, your interface language, plan settings (exam, goal, timeline, daily time) and basic technical information sent by the PostHog SDK (app version, operating system, device model, locale and approximate location derived from the connection). Trestle does not send your name, email, typed answers, recordings, offer codes or the advertising identifier, does not use session recording, and does not use these events for advertising or tracking across other companies’ apps. The same random identifier is shared with RevenueCat so purchase events can be counted in the same analytics. You can turn usage analytics off at any time in Settings → Share anonymous usage data. Events are processed by PostHog on servers in the United States. See PostHog’s Privacy Policy.

Purchases and RevenueCat

Apple processes payment through your Apple account. We do not receive your payment card details. RevenueCat helps validate purchases, restore access, manage subscription entitlements and provide purchase/subscription analytics in its publisher dashboard. It processes an anonymous app user identifier that Trestle does not link to your name or email, purchase and subscription records, and technical app/device information sent by its SDK: device model, operating system and app version, preferred languages, App Store storefront country, and Apple’s identifier for vendor (IDFV) when available. RevenueCat may record the country associated with your connection and the time of your first and most recent connection. The SDK reads whether you allowed app tracking but Trestle never asks for tracking permission and does not collect the advertising identifier (IDFA). Trestle does not send your name, email, phone number or onboarding answers to RevenueCat. Anonymous identifiers are not a promise that purchase records cannot be associated with a device or account by the service providers. Your English answers and learning notes are not sent to RevenueCat.

See RevenueCat’s Privacy Policy and Apple’s Privacy Policy for their processing, retention and international transfer practices.

Offer codes

If you redeem a Trestle offer code, Apple handles the redemption in your Apple account and shows the offer terms before you accept. We receive aggregated App Store Connect reports, such as how many times a code was redeemed by date and country, and RevenueCat receives the resulting subscription record. We do not receive your Apple Account details from a code redemption.

Audio and optional reminders

Listening activities play bundled audio or use the device’s speech synthesis. Optional study and review reminders are scheduled locally on your device after you allow notifications; Trestle does not use remote push notifications. Trestle does not upload microphone recordings. Any future recording feature will request microphone permission when used; microphone access is not necessary for the current listening exercises.

Widgets and Live Activities

The optional widget shares only your streak, last study date and word rotation preference between Trestle and its own extension through a protected, on-device keychain group. This data is not sent to a server or synced through iCloud Keychain. Live Activities display your exam, current session title and progress on supported system surfaces. They update locally and can show on the Lock Screen. You can remove widgets and disable Live Activities in iOS Settings. A paused session and its answers are saved locally so you can resume later.

This website and support

This site is hosted on Vercel. The host may process technical request information, including IP addresses and request logs, to deliver and secure the website. We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels or third-party analytics scripts on these pages. When you email support, we receive the address and information you choose to send and use it to respond. Please avoid sending payment card details, passwords or unnecessary personal information. See Vercel’s Privacy Policy.

Website analytics

To understand how people find and use this website, every page records simple usage events: that a page was viewed, how long it stayed visible and how far it was scrolled, which buttons and links were tapped (for example the App Store button), and on our grammar challenge pages (such as /drill and the pages linked from our ads, such as /ads1) whether the question was started, which option was chosen, whether the answer was correct or time ran out and how long it took. With each event we send the page address, the approximate country, region and city and the timezone derived from your IP address by our host (the IP address itself is not passed on), the local hour and weekday of your visit, your device type, operating system, browser and screen size, whether the page was opened inside the Instagram or Facebook app, your browser language, the referring website’s domain, campaign (UTM) parameters, and whether the link carried an advertising click identifier (only that it was present, not its value). A random identifier is kept in your browser’s local storage to count returning visitors, and a random session identifier in session storage; neither is linked to your name, email, Apple account or the Trestle app. To keep automated visits out of our numbers, our server compares your IP address, only in memory and without storing or passing it on, with published network ranges of Meta and of cloud providers, and marks matching visits as automated. No analytics script or cookie is loaded: your browser sends these events to our own server, which forwards them to PostHog. PostHog processes them on our behalf on servers in the United States, and we use them only in aggregate to measure and improve the website and our campaigns. You can clear the identifiers by clearing this site’s data in your browser. See PostHog’s Privacy Policy.

Retention and deletion

Learning data stays on your device until you delete it or remove the app. Anonymous usage events are kept in PostHog for up to 24 months and then deleted. Website analytics events are kept for up to 24 months and then deleted. The minimal widget snapshot in the system keychain may survive app removal; a fresh installation replaces its progress when first opened. Device or system backups may retain a copy according to your settings. Restoring a purchase restores access, not study history. Apple and RevenueCat retain transaction records according to their policies and applicable requirements. Email us to request deletion of support correspondence or help locating a RevenueCat record; some records may need to be retained for legal or transaction purposes. Deleting the app does not cancel an Apple subscription.

Your choices and requests

You can turn off anonymous usage analytics in Trestle’s Settings, manage notifications in iOS Settings, manage subscriptions in your Apple account and stop using the app at any time. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or restrict processing of personal data. Contact info@qoodly.com to make a request or raise a concern.

Languages

Trestle’s App Store listing is available in many languages. This English policy applies to every language and storefront. If a translation of the store listing differs from this policy, this policy prevails.

Children and policy updates

Trestle is intended for general English learners and exam preparation; it is not designed specifically for children under 13. If you believe a child has shared personal information with us, contact us. We will update this page when our data practices change and revise the date above.
