What Trestle does

You choose your exam, target score, test date and daily study time, and Trestle builds a personal daily study plan with exam-style questions, an explanation for every answer option and spaced review of the questions you miss. The questions are written by Trestle in the style of the real exams; they are not official exam questions, and Trestle does not predict your score.

How the guides and score tools are made

Every guide on this site is written from the test makers’ own published material: ETS for TOEFL iBT and TOEFL ITP, and the IELTS partners (the British Council, IDP and Cambridge University Press & Assessment) for IELTS. Each guide lists its sources and the date it was last checked. The score calculators use one set of scoring rules for every page, and those rules are tested against the examples the test makers publish, so a guide and its calculator cannot disagree. When a test changes, we update the guide and its date only after checking the new official material.

Independence

Trestle is independent. It is not affiliated with, endorsed or approved by ETS or the IELTS partners. We name official practice materials next to Trestle in our guides because learners should use them too.
